Dive Planning and Marshalling SDC - Does it count towards Dive Leader?

Hi,

Just a simple question as im finding conflicting information on the BSAC site.

Does the DPM SDC actually count towards the Dive Leader theory and/or practicals of the same topic or not?

<a href="http://www.bsac.org/technical/dtp/qanda.htm" >http://www.bsac.org/technical/dtp/qanda.htm</a> would hint it does but doesnt specify which lessons can be signed up but in the SDC description itself ( <a href="http://www.bsac.org/techserv/syllabus/divemarsh.htm" >http://www.bsac.org/techserv/syllabus/divemarsh.htm</a>) it doesnt mention in the qualification section any lessons that can be signed up for dive leader itself whereas it does for other courses such as PRM.

Can someone clarify if it does or doesnt count, and if so, which lessons can be signed up on it ?

Yeah, often happens. They're still working on cleaning up all the old rubbish from the site I think, but there's so so so much of it around that it'll be a long time yet I think. Their new computer thingy should help soon though...

Best thing to do is to ask the course boss for DPM, or your DO if its being run in-branch. I don't have any BSACcy stuff to hand to check, but i'm fairly sure that DPM *can* count towards some of the DL lessons... but no idea which ones. Your instructor with the instructor manual should easily be able to tell you which DL lessons are covered during the DPM course.

The DPM SDC does count towards the Dive Leader training, and DT8, DT12, DP1 can be signed up if the student has attended the DPM SDC.
