Hi

I'm pretty peed off. We are off to Sharm this weekend to dive again after learning last year. :D

We had also booked to go back early December with my brother.

However Thomson have just notified us of building work at the hotel and due to single room extortionate loadings, one of the few sensible alternatives is Dahab of which I know nothing. :(

Can anyone enlighten me as to what sort of differences I will find, weather, sea temperature and so on?

I know it will be a little colder and windier in Sharm in December compared to now but I don't want to think in terms of it being colder still.

Thanks.

Dahab is supposed to e less crowded than sharm but I dont think thats a real issue in december. As for temperature its an old link but try here (http://www.planetdivers.com/dahab/en/weather.html)

Hope it helps

Thanks for that.

I think I may try and stay in Sharm but we'll see what today brings.

I'll try and find out if the weather/sea temp varies much between Sharm and Dahab. I can't imagine it does much.

Temperatures and weather are much the same in Sharm and Dahab. Sharm is mostly boat diving - Dahab mostly shore. Between the two I prefer Dahab - but then again I don't do clubbing at night. :p

Hi,
For yur holiday in Dahab you will fly into Sharm airport, its only @ an hour away in the taxi and the temperatures are @ the same. As previously mentioned the diving there is from the shore as oposed to day boat diving.
If you take up on the holiday and you prefer to stay in Sharm have you not considered taking the package from Thmpson, using the flight and finding your own accomodation in Sharm ??? There is plenty of reasonable cheap accomodation there and you can even prebook it ob the internet in the UK prior to departure. Try www.travelrepublic.co.uk or www.hotelmed,co.uk.
There are also plenty of dive centres there where you can prebook your diving.
Where ever you decide to choose, enjoy your holiday and safe diving.

Best Regards

Many thanks for the reply.

I did get a refund from Thomson and booked Sharm with Flightline (Medhotels). We're staying at the Sol y Mar Beach Resort where we've stayed before. Next time I think it has to be Dahab :D

I'm just packing now for our first trip - we fly to Sharm tomorrow, diving all booked with Aquarius - can't wait.

As usual I am plagued with things that seem to conspire to stop me diving. The vertigo has held at bay until last Thursday when it started at our dance lesson. I started the betahistine straight away and have spent the last day and a half in bed with a 'tummy bug' or maybe a reaction to starting the betahistine too quick. I swear I am jinxed with my diving

No matter, just had an email from Karen at Aquarius to say she has managed to clear her calendar enough to spend time with us. This will be nice as she tought us and is aware of all my frustrating health quirks, CFS, ME, vertigo etc.

I'm looking forward to gently easing back into it, maybe not being too adventurous but I'd like to try a couple of sections of the advance if all goes well. I think 'Peak Performance Bouyancy' would be a great one to do if I can avoid the vertigo.

Thanks all,

ps - Eddie - no clubbing - just learning to cha-cha but I don't think that counts.;)
