Well having just come back from another dive.
Here’s some thing I have just been told by a vet.
2yrs ago she was diving out in the sea of Cortes Mexico yes, a company who were paying her expenses (only) to tag sharks and manta’s.
In two months she saw only one small shark and that was dead.
Her final report on the shark and manta registered a big zero with ref to tagging.
This is due to over subsidized fishing diesel and boats.
On her one trip to a village the hole beach was a sticking rotting area of un sold fish, and with no refrigeration storage this is what happens every day.
Previous to subsides, they went out in little boats and caught enough fish to live on a few to sell, now they fill the boats to the brim and then dump what they cannot sell which can be up to half.
Need less to say I am very surprised at this
Does any one know better.
