Try Dive Master Insurance. I have been insured with them for years, and they came up trumps with a camera flood some years ago. They also do a competitive yearly insurance deal, great if you go on trips several times a year. I enclose the link to their website.

I have also used www.buddyindepth.co.uk they cover you to your qualification depth limit, but I haven't had to claim from them. You could also look at Westfield, lots of people seem to recommend them. My kit is insured with DiveMaster and they were very good when I had to claim some years ago, however I think their travel and medical policies are a bit expensive.

What level of diving are you wanting to do? If you are not planning on deep diving, many (most?) policies include diving to a level of 30m with no additional premia to pay. If looking for cover for 30m+ then I would look at taking out basic travel insurance ( if you think it is worthwhile ) and then perhaps taking IDEC cover from dive-master.net which costs ?17 for 9 days ( which is probably adequate period for most diving )

Try Westfield, their travel insurance includes diving to depth limits as defined by your qualifications. Annual cover multi trip available, as well as single trip cover. Found the cost for a dive trip to USA, 10days plus, no more than the ordinary travel insurance so took the the same policy for non diving wife.

For sheer value for money and cover to either 30 or 50 metres (you choose) I use the company below. I've never had to make a claim so I can't say how good they are there.

I just looked at Divemaster - better depth coverage, but expensive by comparison

Divemaster "annual, couple, worldwide" = ?135.46 (BSAC rate)
They classed mt 16yr old diving son as an adult, therefore would have to insure him & my 20yr old daughter as a seperate "couple", i.e. additional ?135.46

Atlas "annual, family, worldwide" = ?69.79
They class my son as a "dependent", but my daughter as an adult, i.e. additional ?44.45
Max depth = 30m

I couldn't recommend Buddyindepth. I had a bit of a nightmare with a lost baggage claim recently. They tried to fob off my claim for a dive computer by saying it was classed as 'valuables' which aren't covered if in your main baggage (this despite it being classed as dive equipment in the policy!). Even when I wrote back to them pointing this out (including a photocopy of the policy extract), they wouldn't have it! In the end, I had to write and complain to the Chief Executive of the company or they would have excluded it. It took 2 1/2 months before I got my settlement. Way too much hassle.

They also don't cover new for old, although to be fair they were the cheapest (I think) at ?160/couple for a worldwide annual policy. I guess you get what you pay for. I'm just praying I don't have to make a medical claim in Egypt next week....
