As this site steadfastly refuses to add it to the airlines page!

I'd just like to point out that Brittania will allow an extra
5kg on top of it's 20kg main baggage for divers. However be
prepared to back it up with confirmation email/letter in
advance.

Surprising, as Regaldive use them!

I flew to Hurghada with Brittania just before Xmas, I checked on their website before, you just need to take your proof of diver qualification in your hand luggage (they don't encourage you to try getting letters etc...it's one of their FAQs).
In the event, my bag was exactly 25kg, my partner's was 30kg, but we just TOLD them we were divers & there was no problem at all.

Lindsey.

More surprising considering they are the UK no 1.

I use Brittania a lot simply because the group packages are so
good often beating rival firms by a large margin. I've always
phoned airline services just to confirm the allowance (it has
been known to change between booking and departure) and get
names etc.

In the past no problems, but a week before Christmas had 14 of
us off to Sharm, with a combined weight allowance and a
jobsworth who steadfastly refused to believe that we had an
extra 5kg. Dispite pleading 5kg/diver c-cards and phoning her
supervisor, they only let it go when I produced some details
that I had printed for flight times etc. This did look a bit
like an official document and stated an extra 5kg.

I would suggest that regardless of what they say, having it in
writing might save a lot of grief at the airport. Without that
dodgy scrap of paper we were down for a wopping ?245 excess!
That's got to be worth a stamp!

Terry,
Dispensing with the need to collect the facts again?

As this site steadfastly refuses to add it to the airlines page!

We would be delighted to receive information from Britannia. They received the same request as all the other airlines but failed to respond. We do not believe it is in the interests of our readers to offer second-hand information on matters such as this.

Thanks to our readers for sharing their experience.

Sorry MIke, disagree big time. Even if you dont have it direct
there is nothing wrong with putting the info on here, saying
it's third party and advising travellers to always check by
providing the correct phone number.

Better the route to find the right info, than no info at all.
