I'm planning to be in Tanzania next summer and wanted to combine this with a dive holiday on one of Pemba, Chumbe, Mafia Island etc, anyone any experiences to share of dive operators etc
Cheers

I've dived in Mafia Island and from Bagamoyo. If you're diving in our summer the vis isn't great, I've had better in Stoney.

The dive operators that I ended up with all seemed to be Italian and there was a bit of a language barrier at times. I didn't have any problems with qualification recognition, the kit I hired on Mafia was new (all Mares) but summer was very definitely the off season - the vis is apparently much better in the winter. In Bagamoyo there were more Italian staff than guests....

Due to flight timing I couldn't dive in Zanzibar.

Cheers Zine, I read the other day that Oct-March is the recommended dive season so I've re-planned my holidays accordingly

just returned from Pemba having used Swahili Divers and Pemba afloat. For a few days, Pemba afloat was a really enjoyable experience, stay on moored yachts, eat very well, and a five minute putter to a 100m wall.Lovely friendly people looking after you. On shore you are next to the national park forest, so good for nature lovers. Highly recommended!!!
