Would a marine creature ID section within the Travel Club pages be of any interest to anyone? Within the few of us volunteers working on this site the idea has been put forward that having photos of some, just a few, of the common animals that might be seen at different locations could be useful to visitors. What do you think?

We don't have the resources to make this a major identification site, but might be able to have photos of some of the animals that you could encounter.

Would you ever try and identify something or look up what you might see? Would this simply be duplicating what you might already use elsewhere so be of little interest? What would you want?

I actually think it's a good idea and one that is probably
too large to work within the confines of this site.

I'd be inclined to set up a seperate site with a link from this
one. As long as the ideals comply with BSAC's own I cant see
there being any objections, but having a shedload of piccies
and all the bandwidth hassles will only slow down the site.

So IMO good idea, but not on here.

The BSAC have their own web server Terry, it's actually located in Redbus in London. It is relatively lightly loaded, has bags of space and certainly isn't bandwidth restricted according to my stats! The forums themselves probably put the biggest load on the server, that's because the pages are dynamically generated. I would have no objections to such a site on the BSAC web server, if it did cause any problems then it would be the job of the IT Team to overcome them.

Don't... :-( We eventually had a whip-round within the IT Team and got together another 50p for the meter, it should last us a while.
