Garf on YD has 4 places on a liveaboard to scapa in the last week in August. Ferry Leaves Scrabster Saturday 25th August 2007 Returns 1st September 2007

Getting There
Make your way to scrabster, either for the Friday night, or Saturday morning. I will arrange all the ferry tickets and hand them out Saturday morning. I will let everyone know well in advance of ferry times. I will also book two containers in which you will load your kit on the Saturday morning before the ferry leaves. Car parking is available in scrabster at a cost of £35 for the week. Accommodation for the Friday night is your own lookout, but the Ferry Inn in Scrabster is a good bet and is available on +44 (0) 1847 892814, or at Accomodation,Thurso,Caithness,Scotland. Ensure you book well in advance.

The diving.
In the closing moments of Germany's big mistake (number 1), a German Admiral (dirty German scoundrels fighting their filthy underhand war) suprised one of our admirals (splendid fellows, risking life and limb for blighty) by scuttling the entire German fleet. A little careless, one might presume, until you realise he had ordered the scutting of nearly 80 ships under the very noses of the British fleet, just to **** them off. The result, apart from the British calling it "underhand" and "unsportsmanlike" (Becuase they didn't get to ply ippy dippy with battleships and give them out to their mates) is that the place is littered with wrecks. Of the orginal German fleet, seven major wrecks remain. 600 foot long, 25000 ton battleships grow on trees, you're forever tripping over cruisers and see if I see another light cruiser I'll scream. If the Wrecks of the German fleet arn't enough to keep you interested then sod off and take up golf. sorry, I mean there's plenty more to enjoy; dozens of block ships at the entrances to the flow, and some superb diving outside the flow itself.

The boat
Invincible is my favourite dive boat. It really is superb. It's a bit like that Honda advert where everything just "works". It's incredibly stable in the water and skipper Ian really knows his boat and the waters he manages her in. Loads of kitting up space, a bar, galley, accommodation for 12 divers, two loos, two showers, nice big ladder, Air, nitrox, trimix, it's just great. Go and have a look at Scapa Flow Diving Holidays. Based in Stromness, Orkney (http://www.scapa-flow.co.uk/) for further details.

The cost.
The Costs include 6 days diving aboard the largest boat in Scapa Flow, MV invincible, Accommodation on the boat, Free air fills. Price also includes ferry to and from Stromness. There may be an additional charge for daily cooked breakfast - need to confirm this with skipper. Total price is £273.54
In and Out of the Flow £258.35 (boat) £30.20 (Ferry) £288.55 (Total)

Gas
Invincible can pump air to your hearts content, and is free of charge as stated above. Nitrox is also available on the boat, as is helium - costs on Scapa Flow Diving Holidays. Based in Stromness, Orkney (http://www.scapa-flow.co.uk/), These prices may change before next year as they certainly haven't in the past two years. It is your own responsibility to keep an eye on the boat's website for any change in price although I will endevour to keep everyone informed.
