View Full Version : Opinions on these 3 wrist computers
I've narrowed down my choices to the following:
*Oceanic Veo 250
*Aeris XR (appears virtually identical in form and function to Oceanic Veo
*Sherwood Insight
Can anyone share their opinions on these computers and how they compare with each other as far as functions and capabilities go? As best I can tell, they are similar in most respects but if I were so sure of my opinion I would not be posting this question.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sy

Never used any of them, not even heard of the last two, and don't even recognise the company name of the second one. Doesn't mean they're bad, but obviously you'll struggle to find as much information or recommendations for them. Personally i'd stick with the "bigger" brand names unless someone I know and trust who used the other ones specifically recommended them to me.
Can't find any of those in any of the "usual" online stores i'd look at, but guessing you're picking them based on being cheapest available? If so, have you looked at the Suunto Gekko - around £150, but very widespread, means you'd probably be diving quite often with people who's computers use the same algorithm (meaning you should have similar no-deco times, which is useful!), and i'd assume it does everything you need.

I use a Cressi EDY and it seems to have the same features that you are after. I am very pleased with it, easy to use as a computer AND as an everyday wristwatch.
The Oceanic and Aeris are basically the same computers, they are both made as far as i recall by Pelagic, a subsidiary of Oceanic. (I did a lot of research before I bought my computer). Aeris are more popular in the US so a question on Scubaboard may help you with more opinions on that model.
I use the Atmos 2 which is the model before the XR range and pretty much identical in features. I find it easy to use, easy to read underwater, easy to download and the manual is easy to understand. I am very happy with it and would recommend the brand to anyone.
The below link is to the demo site for the Atmos 2 where you can 'try it out', the XR-2 would be pretty much the same.
