A friend is taking a year off work :( and is touring Italy. Whilst there she wants to do loads of diving and wonders if anyone has seen a diver's guide to Italy.

She has searched Amazon but not really come up with anything, and buying just any old guide may be a waste of money. She would rather buy something that comes recommended. She speaks Italian so it doesn't have to be in English.

Any ideas?

Try contacting Gordon Mackie.
DO of Italia Branch.
He may be able to assist you.
He is listed on the forums so a search will find his contact details.

Ed I don't remember any writen guides much when we lived there. There are area specific books (like on Portofino) but nothing much that covers the whole country. Like the UK Italy has a lot of coast for not much land mass....

Is your friend typical brit (wreck mad) or a "Euro" type (fish prodder) :D As a die hard brit type of chap I can't imagine a dive without rust so I will recommend this Italian site that has lots of nice stuff on it....

We lived in Milan and dived the lakes and the Ligurian sea. The wreck of the MV Haven is the best known wreck (off Genova) but its a deep dive and really needs trimix. The lakes are also deep and cold but generally have decent viz and there are some yet-to-be discovered WW2 wrecks in Lago de Garda that could easly take up that year's holiday on their own (I have contacts :))

Since they speak Italian I suggest joining one or more of the many Italian forums and asking for people to give their favourite sites.

Thanks Chris

She will, I am sure, dive anything she can. Mad keen.

Never thought of her going onto the Italian forums! What a good idea.

And thanks for the link. She is a sports diver working towards DL but she will sure find something of interest I am sure.
