Dear All
Can you help me find my 3 litre pony, which I lent to a fellow diver today. Diving on James Egan Lane, Sunday 17th June, at 14.30, with Hard boat Morning Glory from Looe. It has my name Kevin Lea & Telephone number 01453 762735. It has new Oceanic Delta 2nd stage and new Oceanic 1st stage. (Yellow pony + name in black paint) All details have been given to Looe Divers + hard boat hopefully who will pass on information to skippers in Portsmouth area.
I will offer a generous reward or a donation to a charity of your choice to the diver that finds the pony. I believe the pony may have been lost between the stern section and the area to the starboard side went into hold (Engine room area) halfway along and to the rear and back to stern not too long outside the main wreck area. Thank you for your help and time in reading this request for help

Well you all know these skittish yellow ponies, once free they will run till they run out of breath, so maybe Portsmouth might be a good bet as well as Plymouth. :o)

I don't know about yellow ponies, but there were certainly some white horses travelling up from the south west this w/e. :)

Hello
Thanks for your replies, it was late when I posted the message, a long weekend, wet after two days under rcanvas and a little P***ed to learn that my mate lost my pony and maybe even narked that I offered to help someone and do a favour and end up losing my little pony and new its new Oceanic regs.
I should have stated that I have tried to get a message to the hard boats within the Plymouth area.
I don’t know how it fell off; I understand that the DO and the diver checked the pony was attached to cylinder (Quick release clamp). I have confirmed that both people checked the pony was firmly attached.
It’s gone and I will probably hear from you all that its come 3rd at a race at Ascot later this week.
Thanks for looking and if you hear or see my little Pony please let me know, it really was not my fault and I am £300 the poorer for helping some one out.

Hopefully it'll turn up when a lot of people are diving again next weekend. If it got caught on a bit of wreckage then hopefully won't have drifted off. A lot of lost kit does appear on forums like this, so there are a lot of honest divers out there - and if you keep trying to get in touch with all the skippers in the area then anyone who finds it can be pointed in your direction. :)
That said, personally i'd be strongly suggesting to the friend who lost it that they should replace it if it doesn't turn up!

Kevin
I assume they have offered to replace it all or you have asked this careless individual to replace the kit he/she was lent?
If not why not? surely its his/her responsibilty to return in working order or replace it. If he/she fails to do so - he/she should be named and shamed on these fora.
And it should be their job to chase around the dive shops and hardboats of the southwest trying to find it and putting up a reward or donation.
I am stunned your having to plead online for something you didnt lose.
Good Luck making good on your loss.

Why should they be named and shamed on this or any other fora? Is that the way you would treat a friend? We dont know if Kevins mate is able to access diving forums to place similar message hence Kevin doing it.
Lets hope they dont bring back capital punishment as i am sure some people would block book first row seats and bring their knitting!

Restores your faith in humanity - especially after the lost torch post a couple of months ago. Nice job Pete... and I'm sure the RNLI wouldn't say no to a 'drink'/small donation :)

Dear Divers
I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the DO of Plymouth Sound BSAC (Pete Flaxman) who found my missing pony and regulator earlier this week. I would also like to thank any divers who had read my messages for help over the last 4 weeks, for looking for my pony, when diving on the James Egan Lane.
I am sincerely grateful that my equipment will be returned (I am travelling down to Plymouth on Saturday and will dive with Pete and other members) of his club.
I would like to comment to some of the divers who offered disparaging remarks on various forums about my colleague, who lost my equipment. My colleague provided a replacement pony and regulator until mine was either found or when his insurance company had settled on any future claim. This will now no longer be necessary or required. The person in question was very upset that the incident had happened but there was very little they could comment to make the matter right. I was completely satisfied that the equipment had been fastened with a Metasub clamp and it was unfortunate that is came loose.
I am very pleased and relived to hear that my equipment has been found and returned to me. We often hear tales of divers losing equipment and this only proves that UK divers are first class in all respects........
Many thanks Kevin Lea Stroud Valley BSAC 1521 :)
