This is my first post. I've just booked a BARGAIN of a holiday to TABA. I've tried to find dives sites, info etc and have found very little. If anyone has been there pse contact me so that I can contact useful firms and decide on a diving itinerary.

I went to Taba last year in August/September. I found exactly what you found - No Dive Schools!!
Taba has only been recently formed within the last 2 years and as fast as it is being built it is being demolished by the locals!
The best places to dive are Sharm, Hurghanda, Deep South.
When you do get to dive, you will not be disappointed. 9 out of 10, most dives you will see sharks!!

I know of three dive centres - there may be more. Aqua Sport is probably the biggest - it is (or was) based at the Taba Hilton but due to recent unfortunate happenings may have moved. They have been operating in the area of at least 30 years and are a big operation. There is also one called WaterWorld and another called Seastar at the Alcazar Hotel. Have a look for their websites.
The diving is mainly shore diving but some dayboating and is really good as opposed to being spectacular I believe. You could also try a day trip south as far as Nuweiba or Dahab for more variety.
Have a great trip
