Hi Buds - The lakes are getting warmer. Just 6 years ago the average temp in January (the coldest period) was 5c, now its 7 to 8c. For June it should be between 7 and 8c but its actually at 12c right now. Thats a big change.
If you have dived the lake district between Jan 2005 and now - would you please check your logs and kindly PM me with the following details: Date(s), Lake(s) Dived, the Site(s), depth reached, temperature details. If you have uploaded your DC data to PC - the end of dive temp would also be useful.
I'll be compiling this data into a spread sheet in order to create a more accurate, up-to-date charts for everyone on my Freshwaterdiver.com website which hopefully will be completed for Jan 2008.
Any format is fine as I'll need to sort out and arrange the data into some fancy spread sheets!
The results will be used on the Freshwaterdiver.com web site to update the current charts but also for the first time, we will be able to look at how much of an increase has occured in five years.
I need to enter a total of 16,000 readings plus some. Just entered the 100th reading today.
With your help, this could be the most detailed look at lake temperature differences yet undertaken.
What effect these higher temps may have on the aquatic ecology of the lakes - I hate to think.
Sincere thanks to all those who may wish to help. I'll be doing a write up in the Special Features page at Freshwaterdiver and listing the 'names', of all those who have helped.
Your sincerely - Webmaster Paul
