Hi again!
Medway SAC dived the 'White Rose' off St. Margaret's Bay, near Dover. As the Morning slack was early, the second group couldn't dive, as the tide was running at 2 knots. We headed to St. Margaret's Bay for a BBQ, planning on diving the wreck on the afternoon slack, and retrieving the shot then. During the day, we noticed some boats around the wreck and they moved off. When we got to the wreck, the shot line was gone. The shot was securely anchored in, so just lifting is possible, but not likely.

If anyone finds a pink and white buoy on a 36m blue line with 3m heavy chain and a 4 way anchor near Dover, could they let me know?

Beers in it if anyone finds it!

Ta!

Chris,

Was the line long enough to allow the bouy to reach the surface on the HW slack? This would n't be the first time I've heard of a line being too short and be pulled under.

Just a thought.

We have lost a buoy around that area before as well, there are a lot of small fishing boats out there and regular lines of Lobster pots along there as well.

In answer to Adrian's question, yes, the line was 35m, which was plenty to get up to the surface at HW (Wreck is in 27m). When we left the wreck, the tide was running at 2 knots, and the buoy was clearly visible above the surface. When we went back, the tide had slowed down to under 2 knots, and there was not sign of the buoy, so I'm sure it's either drifted off (unlikely), or been 'rescued' by some nice person....

Also, as Paul says, there are a lot of fishing boats out there, and some were spotted in the vicinity of our shot buoy during the day between dives.

We're planning on going back on Wednesday evening to see if it's there. If not, we'll drop down to see if the anchor's still there. I'll let you know.

Then it's almost certain that someone took it Chris.
