Just about to buy our first BCD's (although we have been diving for ages!). We travel a lot and need our kit to be as light as possible. Any advice please?

Thanks, Mazza

Have a look at the new Cressi Aero light. Weighs about 2 kilos.

Halcyon Eclipse with an Ali backplate. Incredibly sturdy, great in the water, easy to maintain....and weighs very little.

Any single tank wing (30lb lift) with aluminium backplate, webbing harness will be lighter than a BCD really.
You may not want a wing though.

I use a buddy Tek Wing for travel - light weight and can put bands on for twins.

The smaller buddy travel wings are also options.

Thanks for this advice. I think we will go for the Cressi Aqua Light. It seems to meet our needs and is a reasonable price.

Don't forget if you fly on the non budget airlines, if you tell them at check in that you have sports equipment they will give you extra baggage allowance.

Don't be tempted to under equip your self just to save a few Kg if you need to know your extra allowance just ask your travel agent or phone the airline,
we've been allowed an extra 25Kg with BA before.

Yeah avoid a Buddy

If you are holiday diving then just go for a cheap club type BC.
You dont need intergrated or pouches, so bin anything that has that.

We've been using the Poseidon clublift for a few years now and they are
light, dry quick and have as much lift as a buddy.

Got a name change and are now called Ecolift I think, but for hols a basic
BC is all you need, so save your dosh.
