we are about to perchase a humminbird 987c for use on a rib .i have been told that the side imaging sonar does not work after 30 metresis this true . help

The spec says max depth 100ft for 3D. (240ft vector). This will be approx. useable depth, It won't not show!

For me the 2D (1000ft, 300+m) is easier to interpret...

The side imaging does only work in any detail to 30m, I have looked at it, if it was 50m I'd buy one. It is still an impressive but of kit.

The 3D version is a different machine, hard to interpret but very good in 2D.
