Did a trial dive in the red sea over easter and absolutly loved it.. Shame I left it to the last day because I probably would have changed all my plans. Anyways... Going to do my PADI open water asap and had a few questions...

Are there any local clubs in/around Brighton that go out on dives that also allow you to rent equitment?

And on a more controversial note...
How do people feel about diving for crabs/lobsters/scallops etc. I know its a heated argument and I understand the beauty of seeing life underwater... but as I love cooking and eating fish I couldnt think of a better way to get it fresh - without the wastage that occurs with commercial fishing.

Anyways thanks for any info.

Greg,

Once you have passed your course then most shops will hire you gear to go diving.

I am still in the 'Fish are friends not food' camp so I personally would not take any. I do agree that it is better than commercial fishing just it is not for me.

Hi Greg,
Congrats on wanting to train as a diver. For British Sub Aqua Clubs in the Briton area you should look on the BSAC web site for the branch locator. The branches are all members clubs and you would have to join a branch as a member to continue training. Most branches don't hire out equipment but may loan it to members for training purposes only. Members usually buy all their own equipment in the long run.

You're rather at the wrong end of the year for our training schedule but the local schools are always available.
We have boats, compressors and things.

We meet apres dive Wednesday evenings in a pub on the Marina.
