We've been asked to encourage the supply of information about snorkelling sites around the UK in the form of trip reports - clearly a lot of people are interested in the sport. These sites would of course also be great dive sites for early experience dives and diving with kids.
Carol Reid has got us off to a fantastic start with two trip reports on snorkelling in Scotland

We've even invented a new icon to highlight snorkel friendly reports in the trip report list !
Welcome snerkerlers - let's have some more reports out of you!

You wont go short on snorkelling sites in The Lake District.
Problem is - which ones do you do!
Anyone interested can find out more about access points and other issues to check out at freshwaterdiver.com
Windermere has the new speed limit on it too. So that lake now offers safer surface finning and indeed diving conditions when surfacing.
Snorkelling is best achieved by staying close to shore - two main reasons:-
1) No yachts or windsurfers come near to shore (normally).
2) With the exception of Wastwater, Crummock water, Buttermere and Hodge close, viz is at circa 2 metres during summer although this increases during the winter period to 5 metres.
I'll try hard to get the time together to give you some reports on snorkelling in the Lakes.
