For a change our club is looking at diving some of the wrecks off the Lincolnshire Coast. There are a few to the East of Inner Dowsing Light - anyone got any information on whether these are any good/intact?

Looking at the chart, the wrecks in this area lie to the south of Silver Pit - my guess is the currents in this area can be quite strong - any info on this?

Finally - RIB launch. What launch sites are available on this coast? Mablethorpe Tourist Information say no vehicles are allowed on the beach from Mablethorpe down to Sutton-On-Sea and my recollection as a kid is that there are considerable mud flats in this area too.

Hi.

For wrecks near to the Silver Pit, maybe the nearest launch is Cleethorpes. It is restricted by the tide as a sandbank appears at low water which stops you reaching your launch site, once over it you can recover your boat easy.

But somebody might have somewhere better?.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I looked at Cleethorpes - but it is about 30 miles from Inner Dowsing. The launch site looks difficult too across the foreshore.

Boatlaunch is a very good site. The launch at Ingoldmells (Skegness) looks much better. A £10 fee and tractor launch - controlled by the Skegness Watersports Club. There is a contact number (07768 933934) and I shall give them a ring.

Thanks again,
Ric
