I'm selling a set of twin 10's to a friend of mine, but neither of us really know the going rate. So would like to get the forum's opinion on what's a fair price for both of us.

The steel (I think Faber) tanks are 9 years old, good condition, isolating manifold, custom diver bands (without the d-rings on the side), hydrostatic test Nov 2004. Manifold is unmarked, but I know it's from the same factory as Scubapro, so is probably Scubatec.

So what's a fair price?

Since you can get them new for 260 quid, I reckon something like 200. Maybe less.

I sold two tanks, independents, with bands, for 160 about 18 months ago. Younger than the ones you're looking at and in test. 40 quid for a manifold sounds reasonable.

About 185 is the going rate for cyls a couple of years old. For 9 yr old stuff I'd be asking about 150-160

New ones here http://www.kentdiving.com/prod.asp?partno=FT10

£228 w/o the bands. I got bands for mine off ebay for 40 quid.

The spec. on Mark's is a bit better though.

For a 9 year old piece of equipment, I wouldn't pay as much as 50% of the new vat exclusive rate. Given that a twinset (new) with steel bands can be obtained for GBP236 exc tax, then anything more than GBP120 seems excessive and bad value to me

Anything is "worth" what someone is prepared to pay,

Just out of curiosity, for that price, does the manifold have barrel or face o-rings? it would be interesting to know if manifolds with barrel o-rings are genuinely more resilent to knocks, as those manifolds (new) seem to cost a lot more than the face o-ring versions (eg MDE)

One of the cheapest manifolds around is the San O Sub which is barrel O rings

Didn't know that. As you can guess from the age of my twinset, I started diving twins a long while back, when there was a marked difference in price and availability of barrel o-ring type manifolds. And as my nitrox instructor back then is now a GUE instructor, you can probably guess what advice was given about kit :-)
