Communication
We have a "yahoo groups" regional messageboard open to anyone in BSAC South Scotland branches, which all members can use for email communication about what's happening in the region, events, trips, branches needing instructors for training, instructors offering their services, and so on, and to host relevant information files. If you haven't already joined, go to http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/southscotland/ and click on the "join this group" button on the right hand side, and give some information about who you are to join the group.
The 2nd South Scotland Regional Training Days will be on Sunday March 11th, at the Furnace Tea Rooms, Loch Fyne starting at 10:00.
These are great opportunities to get some training done, have fun and meet other clubs in the region. It is also ideal for assistant instructors wanting to get more practise. I strongly encourage all instructors, assistant instructors and students from all branches to come along. Please forward this message to members of your branch and encourage them to come and take part. Why not get a group together from your branch to come along.
The training can be anything from the diver training programme - OD, SD, DL or AD - that is suited to shorediving.
The diving is sheltered, with a shallow bay at about 6m or so for much of it and a rocky reef to one side with a steeper outer wall to about 15-18m. see http://www.congeralley.com/sites/tearooms.htm for details.
The tea rooms are diver friendly and make excellent hot chocolate as well as all the usual cafe things. There is free car parking - please leave the spaces to the right of the entrance free for non-diving cafe visitors, as sign posted. Divers are allowed to use the cafe's facilities as well. The cafe also has a small stock of "save a dive" articles such as masks, hoods, O' rings, lead weights, fin straps, hoses.
Air fills are available at the Argyll caravan park.
Please reply soon as possible if you are interested, so we can estimate numbers. please let Sue know the following - either for yourself, or even better, for a group from your branch:
- your name
- your grade
- what training you would like to do (give a range if possible, so we can match people up)
- if you are an instructor, what training would you be willing to do.
- your branch.
- Transport - to minimise the number of cars (for environmental
reasons and also so we can all fit into the car park!), please say who you will be sharing transport with or whether you have space/are willing to share transport with others coming from your area.
Do contact Sue or myself if you have any queries. I look forward to seeing you all there!
