Howdy all,

I've got one of the old Combro backplates which I bought several years ago for 30 quid... was looking around for another stainless backplate, but they appear to have gone up an awful lot in price!

Any suggestions on where to go for a stainless backplate at the moment?

Other than that yep they've gone up in cost

Kitfondle would possibly be the closest in price, but appears to be out of stock on all plates.

Sadly I am currently knocking the backplates on the head due to them sitting around going sour looking expensive at me.

Cheapest place for a plate is currently Go-Dive (on their clips and hardware page hidden away) £49. However I can still supply the webbing and harness bits (as can many other reputable places before anyone gets shirty).

People have to make a crust and, as Woz says, they don't move fast.

The Combro plate came because I was offered one for £200 in 1998 and I'd signed off £200s worth of metal cutting for the company two days before and it took a pallet truck to move it. I tend to dig my heels in at things like that.

We did 340+ of them over the years and I still like seeing them about.
There's a big Feel good factor to them and I now have Diving Products on the Company Resume.

Except the shoulder webbing slots go the wrong way on a PE plate. Silly design.

Cheers!

I personally dive the OMS plate but I hear a LOT of good stuff about this plate (http://www.deepseasupply.com/page7.html) over here in the USA. The prices are a bit higher but with the exchange rate it might be good...
