the nitrox workshops for ocean and sports diver - do they replace the exisitng basic and combined nitrox courses?

bit confused as i wanted to do the combined course btu now not sure if this is or isn't covered byt the two workshops

Nope they don't replace the combined Nitrox.

If you do the combined Nitrox course you will get a BSAC advanced Nitrox Certificate, whcih lets you do *more* than the nitrox workshops.

The Ocean Diver Nx workshop lets OD use Nitrox 32 and 36 as safe air (i.e. only using air table or computer)

The sports diver Nx workshop lets SD use one nitrox mix (up to 36%) on a dive as Nitrox - this is a bit like the old basic nitrox course.

The combined (or advanced) nitrox course lets you use two nitrox mixes -one for the dive (up to 40%) , one for additional safety (up to 50%) during decompression.

The courses are due to be revamped soon, but that is how they work at this moment.

The advanced (or combined) Nitrox course will cover everything you need to go from old sport diver to new sport diver, plus some more.
