Hi guys

I did my TDi nitrox, many, many moons ago, before the BSAC had decided that mixed gas diving was allowed.

Of course now, it is my understanding that the BSAC do not allow me to cross this qualifiation over to a BSAC equivelant, as such if I wish to ontinue with my technical skills, I either have to start again or continue with the TDI option

Can I ask why it is not recognised?

Purdy I don't know why, but perhaps it is too basic although the BSAC Nitrox would appear pretty basic too. BSAC 88 Nitrox Tables perhaps - devil in the detail. TDI Advanced Nitrox is an acceptable equivalent to BSAC Advanced Nitrox.

Are you sure about this? It might be worth checking with Jim or Mike at HQ (technical<at>BSAC.com) to make sure that there's no equivalent.

The SDC equivalent sheet has no list for Basic Nitrox Janos. http://www.bsac.org/techserv/A5.pdf

Thanks

I do vaguely remember this being discussed before, and the result was that you couldn't crossover basic nitrox qualifications, but that advanced nitrox could be.

Quite why, I can't remember, although I think the reason was fairly sensible...

Hi

TDI Nitrox Diver is recognised as equivalent to BSAC Basic Nitrox (check out the technical pubs) for acceptable entry qualification for BSAC Advanced Nitrox. As I understand it the reasdon for not offering a SALT equivalency at Basic Level is the fact that BSAC Basic Nitrox uses BSAC 88 tabales and two mixes only whereas TDI uses EAD and EAN21 through to max EAN40.

BSAC Advanced Nitrox only gives you max EAN50 but allows deco

TDI Advanced gives you up to EAN100 but no stop only so you'd need to do this in conjuction with TDI Deco procedures to maximise the benefits of the course.

No idea about other agencies.

Yeah I know the advantges and disadvantages of the TDI and BSAC versions

Think I will continue on the TDI route and cross over later.

Thanks for the help
