Regional Exped

The Southern Region, with the NAS, is organising an expedition to survey the wreck of HMS Coronation, an important protected historic wreck off Plymouth on the weekend of 7/8 July 2007. All diving on the site is forbidden except with the express permission of the Licensee. The Coronation was lost off Plymouth in a storm in 1691 with the loss of 500 men.

This expedition is open to BSAC Sports Divers and above who have completed their NAS Intro and Part 1 courses. There are 18 places available.

For those who would like to take part, but have not as yet completed the NAS Part 1, we have arranged with the NAS some special dates for branches in the Southern Region. These are:


Fri - Sun 16-18 Feb 07, Combined Intro & Part 1 courses, Horsea

Sat 3 Mar 07, Intro course, Plymouth
Sat 17 - Sun 18 Mar 07, Part 1 course, Chepstow

Sat 7 - Sun 8 Jul 07, HMS Coronation expedition, Plymouth


To book your place on any combination of the Intro, Part 1 or the Coronation dive weekend itself, please contact Sarah Ward at the NAS by email: sarah@nasportsmouth.org.uk, or by telephone: 02392 818419 and ask for Sarah.

The intention is to make use of branch boats where possible. Therefore, please indicate to Sarah your branch name and whether you will be bringing a boat ;-)
