Only if you want to penetrate/remove stuff. The article says the sisters want divers to look and not touch. Much better than a outright ban.

I would agree with you on this. Normally I only look and don't touch
any way. So this shouldn't be problem any way.

The marine archeologist who contacted the sisters and has orchestrated this action wants all wrecks banned to divers other than those licensed. He would, of course only like licenses issued to archeologists such as himself. He is pushing to have this wreck designated as a controlled site, that means a total ban.

Well, I think this sort of thing is complete and utter lobbocks. In one way I'm pleased for the sisters knowing that they feel, in some way, happier or more at peace with the loss of their loved one.

Virtually EVERY wreck I get to dive off East Sussex (Eastbourne) is pretty much flattened. There may be a few upstanding structures but even to the ignorant (me) well over 80% of the wrecks are flattened piles of metal. Lots are partially sunk into the sea floor. Wreck penetration - ha, that's a joke.

I wouldn't mind if these bloody interfering twats actually did anything about the wrecks ...... in the shape of archaeological work.

War graves .......... well, that only seems to be important when the wreck is v/closely linked to living 1st generation relatives? [EDIT]When officialdom is involved? If there were anything of value on a wreck I'm sure the Government could overlook any moral concerns (take Risden Beazley (sp?) for example).

If respect and keep away zones were set up around every sight where people had lost their lives in battle ........ well, you can scratch visits to any castles. What about hospitals? Battlefields?

Fortunately for me (in a diving sense) I doubt whether anything too specific will come to fruition before I'm too old to dive. I suppose I'll take the 'I'm alright Jack!' approach.

Even though I do not bow at the BSAC alter, I would ask that the BSAC gods keep an eye on this and fight the good fight on our behalf. I have no idea whether my lot (PADI) have a true representation of the British diver. Sure there are a lot of British divers trained through PADI but how many actually dive in the UK ....................

PADI signed up with the BSAC respect our wrecks thingy..

This is the acceptable face of UK wreck diving - lets keep showing it to the government.
