Can any one help.
I undestand the 2007 Ocean Diver course's will now include nitrox. Our club is starting a new course in Jan 07 and we would like to be up to date with what we are training. Are the new course details available on the BSAC web site (I can not find any) or do we have to go via HQ to get any up dates for our training manuals?

No details are yet available - won't find out anything until the Diving Officers Conference, which is December sometime I believe.

This will be mentioned at the DOC which is the 2nd December. I also
understand this be in place as the 1st Jan 2007.

This must be the worst kept secret of recent times !! just a question -- It would appear that everybody is aware of this change but WHY must we wait until the D.O.'s conference to be officially told, do HQ need to pad out the conference I wonder. When you consider that HQ ran our try dive push in October and as a result we should have an influx of trainees at the moment it seems silly to put off an anouncement.

Come on Pete, be reasonable. No one is being officious or pompous over this. The DTP is undergoing a complete revision, a mamouth task that has been ongoing for at least 2 years. Assimulation of nitrox into OC and SD is part of this. It is not a secret, I posted on these forums a long time ago that this was being done.

The materials have to be written, proof read, revised and put into desktop publishing, this all takes an enourmous amount of time and effort and the people who are doing this are volunteers who have propper jobs Monday to Friday. They have been working to a deadline of launch at DOC 2006. Give em a break please.

Cheers

Hi

I would like to ask a question.

I am not nitrox qualified but am hoping to take my theory exam in march.

There is a Combined Nitrox course run for the eastern region at the end of April.

Would I be better off waiting til I have gained the nitrox ticked before doing the TIE or just go for it?

I know after the confrence every thing will become clear, but i'm trying to sort out my holiday time arround my work collegues.

Thanks

Alex

Not sure of the protocols but I for one would be happy to help ease the load for any work involved in redrafting/formating/editing BSAC info materials

Hi John

Thanks for the offer of help. You need to contact Sean Gribben, Head of NDC Diver Training Group. They have ownership of the Diver Training Programme for OD and SD. I think you will find an email for him on the BSAC website.:)

Cheers
