Has anybody got an idea as to how long one should refrain fron diving following a discectomy of a prolapsed disc?

Hi,

I had a microdiscectomy the other year and was allowed into the water after 6 weeks.

Q12 of the self-declaration medical is about back surgery.
So you will need to get signed off by a medical referee before you can dive

I underwent a Dischectomy of a prolapsed disc (L5/S1 Lumbar Area) in 2001 and was only able to dive in 2005.

As mentioned above before I could dive I had to undergo a complete medical at DDRC Plymouth and I am only a recreational diver not commercial.

Be very careful when weighing up the pros and cons of spinal surgery.
