Hi all,
My name is Julia and I am a snorkeler here in the US. It doesnt seem to be as popular as SCUBA, but I like it better.
We ahve a lake about 2 miles frrom my house that we go to all the time and we just discovered a quarrey where the local dive school and dive club goes.
Since I am new to this I am planning hopefully to one day become a snorkel instructor, though here in the US that doesn't exist. And perhaps be a BSAC US affiliate.

HI Julia
Welcome to the British Sub Aqua club forum
You didn't say where you live and the USA is on the large side.
There must be lots of places you could go.
I had the good fortune to work in Royal Palm Beach Florida 96/97 Building a school, I was able to go scuba diving and snorkelling some weekends and would recommend the Keys and Amy Slates dive centre who would take you on some fantastic snorkrlling reefs. one of the other places I have plans to return to is Homosassa some December to see the manatees they are so friendly and trusting but I would recommend that you try a trip out with one of the manatee trips but then hire your own boat with a freind or two and go to see them after to large groups of operators have gone when it is quiet

If I can be of any help please don't hesitate to ask

Happy and Safe Snorkelling

Hi Ralph,

Being able to snorkel certainly helps at Homosassa - I spent 2 great weeks there. I will never forget the manatees - and the tarpon.
