OWIC/TIE/PIE spaces Aberdeen 16/17th September

There are still plenty of spaces available on the forthcoming OWIC near Aberdeen on the 17th September.

Also spaces available on the TIE on the 16th September and possibly may be a space or two available on the PIE.

Dave.....can you confirm that all the places have been taken for this event please. I was supposed to be on the South Scotland event a week later but its been cancelled. If it was possible, I may be able to get to your one.

Hi Dave,

It depends on which event you are talking about. I believe there are spaces on the TIE and the OWIC. The PIE is possibly full however we are looking into the posibility of adding an extra examiner to the team which may allow additional candidates.

The best thing is to contact HQ and see if you can get onto this event.

Let me know either way and I'll see what we can do.

It was actually the OWIC course I was booked onto. However, I'll give HQ a phone and find out what they're saying although the website says the course is full.

Hi Dave,

As far as I am aware the course has spaces unless for some reason a number of people have booked on since my last update. I'll check with HQ but give them a ring and ask if you can book on.

Yeah I've just checked with Zoe at HQ and there are definately spaces on the OWIC. It is an error on the website. There are also spaces on the TIE. The PIE is full although we are looking at getting another examiner to enable us to accomodate one or two more if necessary.

Thanks for your help and info regarding this. I think I've managed to clear the weekend 16/17th. I noticed you said there are places on the TIE as well, but would you recommend I do the OWIC before tackling the TIE? Furthermore, will central bookings allow me to book onto south Scotland's PIE a week later on the 24th, if I'm doing the OWIC with you guys on the 17th? :confused: All being well, I'll see you that weekend?;) Incidentally, where will the venue be?

Hi Dave,

By all means if you feel ready to do the TIE then go for it.

The South Scotland PIE has unfortunately been cancelled due to lack of numbers. It is however very useful to get some practice in between doing the course and sitting the Practical Instructor Exam as you need to be prepared to teach any lesson you are given on the day. This does require some time to prepare and a week is probably not enough to be honest (not if you have a day job anyway ;) )

The venue for all the Theory/classroom stuff is going to be at my house in Stonehaven. We have just had an extension built on which also doubles as a handy classroom (you see I am a very committed Regional Coach extending my house on behalf of the BSAC :D )

The Practical Sessions will either be at Catterline just down the road or Cove if the weather is less pleasant.
