Hi, Please can any diving medical officer possibly answer my question? I am an experienced diver and last September I went for my annual diving medical (I am in the Army) and failed it due to a heart problem. Since then I have seen a heart specialist who has informed me that I am suffering with "Dilated Cardiomyopathy" with ongoing further investigations. I am currently taking the following medication:
Ramipril 1 x 5mg twice a day
Cardicor bisoprolol fumaraie 1 x 1.25 mg per day
Micropirin 75 mg EC Tablets (Aspirin 75 mg) x 1 per day
Lescol Fluvastatin 1 x 20 mg
The heart specialist I have seen stated that he could not say that I could dive as he was not aware of the diving regulations however he did say that I was not in any serious danger.
My question is this: Would a diving medical officer pass me fit to dive with this condition and enable me to recommence diving or due to my condition would I fail the medical? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated as keeping my head above water is extremely frustrating.
