Total respect girl.
Now I see why you were so determined to get down to the DOC. I had no idea that Paul had recommended you for your magnificent achievement.

Hi Andy
Fiona had done a rescue on a diver, which possibly prevented him from being killed.
She was one of several who received a certificate for rescues
Well done Fiona, nice to have met you

Come on guys, give us a clue please. Not everyone went to DOC. :confused:Then you missed a damn good day! Sure, you'll see stuff on the web, but there is no way on this earth that it will ever do justice to that dry, boring subject "The FCD Experience" without actually seeing it - it was sheer brilliance.

I should add that at the start of a lecture by a consultant psychiatrist I was about to make a runner to the bogs. It turned out to be one of the most entertaining and thought provoking lectures I have listened to at DOC.
Great day....but I still hate London.

Thanks for that Steve, much appreciated.
As someone who has been up for a certificate for my efforts in FCD, I have to say that despite it being a great experience for me personally, I've always thought that the people who get the awards for lifesaving/bravery on the same stage left me feeling a little humbled, because their achievements made mine look paltry by comparison. :o
I assume you got your FCD cert on the day too? If so, congratulations!

I didn't get an invite this year! First time in 18 years.:)
My membership expired, which reminds me, I must post that renewal cheque and self-cert form off.
Maybe next year. Especially if it might be somewhere other than London....?

I will add to that, well done Fiona.
I would too like to decho the comments about DOC 2005, a pretty good day all round.
Thanks for your good wishes, I know I probably shouldn't say this but I was a very proud BSAC diver yesterday and still am today. :)
The original dive had been posted on YD back in July as part of the trip report but yesterday I found out there must have been a second incident report sumbitted by the other pair of divers as this has been added to Paul Oliver submitted in the NDC Diving Incidents Report.
It is good to know there was a happy conclusion to the dive, I have often wondered what happened to the guy we rescued.
I would like to take this opportinuty to say that it is the dedication of branch instructors who take the time to teach us what we need to know, without the branch instructors many of us would never have learnt to dive.
Hopefully we will never need these skills in a real life situation but if we do we have to knowledge for a sucessful outcome.
I'll echo what Keith said about the FCD experience, those guys were truely a double act, a First Class presentation :D
