I'm thinking of booking a week at this hotel & its Werner Lau Dive Centre for September. Any info/experiences good/bad would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Never stayed at that hotel, but I like Shark Bay. Some nice shore diving around there and the beach is good.

Let us have a trip report if you go.

Hiya
I stayed at this hotel a cpl of years ago....

my impressions....

very nice looking hotel, very clean rooms, BUT the resturant staff needed a rocket up their ! ;) they were very polite, very slow and very useless....

Also (and i guess you can say this about a few of the hotels out there) the food wasnt HOT it was warm and as such all our party (4 adults) except my 12 yr old son went down with the dreaded stomach bug, the diving centre their (werner lau ) is excellent...very friendly staff....

take plenty of diacalms etc with you :)

Stomach bugs in holiday resorts are pretty common and I tend to look suspiciously at the buffets. Quite apart from the inherent risk of someone touching the food with dirty hands, the dishes are often left out - sometimes in the open air - for far too long. That said, many hotels are now catching on that their guests object to spending part of their holiday lying on the floor of their bathroom, and are taking a lot more care.
In any case, my advice on Sharm would always be: have breakfast in the hotel but go out for the rest of your meals. There are so many good restaurants both in Naama and in Old Sharm and the prices are good and the meals are likely to be much better for you than stewed buffet fodder. Plus you get to see a bit of the place.
Of course, it does mean swapping the pleasure of rampant trots for the death ride taxi experience... which may of course give you the rampant trots... Hmmm.... :)

PS: I often look for hotel reviews on a website called http://www.tripadvisor.com looking there, your hotel has been getting rave reviews just lately.

I'd agree with Allie. Was in Sharm (Naama Bay) in January and the hotel breakfast was 1st class. If you are doing day boats, lunch is prob provided there and no one on our trip had any problems. Restaurants in the evening - you are spoilt for choice and the quality is very good with excellent service. First trip - and was impressed.

Understand what you mean about the taxis ! An experience.

I got back from this hotel tonight.
Loved it.
It's amazing, the staff are extremly friendly and do anything they can for you. They are always happy and stop to talk depite working terrible hours.
It's clean and tidy and very pretty. The grounds are beautiful, the beach is really nice although you can't walk into the sea, it has to be accessed by a floating jetty and the sand is slightly gravel like.
The pools are out of this world as is the weather.
I have been on many holidays to places such as Thailand, Dominican Republic, America, Cyprus and MANY more and i have to say that this beats the lot.
The atmosphere makes it hard for anyone to be unhappy and the hotel, services and staff are all fantastic.
Have to say i think this hotel is pure paradise, perfection. :o
Hope this has helped.

There is one thing I would like a little help with:
If you have been to the hotel you will know about the photographer who works in the Lobby bar, he has his email address on display for people to take in case they would like any of the photos he has taken. I desperatley need this email address!! If you know it I will be very very grateful for it. If you are going to the hotel soon please please make a note of his email address and get back to me!! thanks :)

Hi

From what I have seen the hotel is really nice. I know the diving centre and it is well respected here in sharm and very friendly. The exchange rate here is great. about 10.9 to the english pound at present so would highly recommend changing cash here rather than at the airport which usually gives a lower rate.

The diving is fabulous at the moment. The large school of hammerheads is at the back of Jackson reef in Tiran and I have seen a few leopard sharks as well as mantas so far this summer.

Hope this helps.
