Does anyone know if there are any clubs or courses for nitrox training being taught in the South Wales area this year? My current club unfortunately don't teach any nitrox courses & some divers from other clubs that I dive with use nitrox & I'm feeling a little left out!

1. According to the 2006 POE:
24/25 June - East Midlands
24/25 June - Vobster
Then nothing until September
Can't see any planned for Wales

2. Try your Regional Coach - they should be able find an Instructor for you

Our Area Coach ran this for us in house. It was just one instructor to
12 students. It worked very well.

I've done this a few times, the basic nitrox is easy to do at home as it is a one day or two evening course

Judith,
sorry to notice this, but doesnt the course brief for the Nitrox state" 8 students to 1 Instructor" and maximum 4 students to 1 instructor in open water?

Why not do the TDI, IANTD or PADI one?

I'd recommend the PADI course for those who want a more simplistic view to nitrox diving. If on the other hand you want something with a lot more Maths in the syllabus, go for the TDI course.

With TDI, you shouldnt pay more than £80 for it, just shop around.

For the PADI course try some of the shops in Cardiff. Cardiff Scuba have a course every month for £130 as an example. Your OD qual will give you access to the course.

Alternatively a TDI instructor could maybe be found that runs courses at the NDC (or in your area), check on Yorkshire Divers and maybe post a request for information, you'll probably get a few promising replies. :)

I think you'll find the combined course at one of the BSAC schools in West Wales for that sort of money.
I know which I'd rather do ;)

To the O.P

Badger the regional coach.
However the last scheduled course was canceled due to lack of numbers I believe.

Depends on if you have SD.

If you havent you dont (as i remember) meet the minimum requirements for a combined course, and are limited to basic nitrox. If the OP is a SD, then go for the combined course, if not then your choices are a little more limited.
