View Full Version : Thread display
Just a thought.
I know we can choose if we do/dont want the thread display at the top of
the page, but is it possible to switch it off at source when its a closed
thread.
Take a look at
http://www.bsacforum.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=465
Makes the page look very messy and as its closed will never be used.

Are you in Hybrid or Tree view Terry? I take it that is what you mean.

Yep.
I have it in tree, which leaves a big space on closed threads.
As no one can post on it thought it cleaner if this could be turned of at source.

As far as I can work out Terry, the answer is 'No'. I have had a look at the vB website and can find nothing to help. I assume it is worse in your example because there is only 1 post, but it is reasonable to expect threads with many posts to become closed. Would you still want the threaded view disabled on such a thread?
I am still trying to find out were your margin issue is controlled :(

It was more the look of the thing.
More often then not a single closed thread will originate from mods or BSAC
itself. So thought at the same time the thread was closed, there might be a
simple way of removing the large blank space.
As these type of threads tend to be of announcements or factual official
type posts, it would look better without it.
But if you cant, you cant.

A suggestion here.............could there be a seperate heading marked announcements which only the administraters had access to in order to post and it was a read only for the rest of us reprobates?

There is an announcements tool Yazzy, but sometimes such information is best left as a 'sticky' thread that stays at the top of the forum. I am pretty sure you would not want a page of announcements before you got to the forum proper.
Th eparticular example mould push the forums to a second page, as it is a full page in itself.
