Hello,
can anyone provide feedback on the results of the Jdeco software for Mobile phones? I am asking for the decompression results based on ZHL16B and VPM-B as well as the Van Der Waals gass mixing tools.
The web site is http://www.Jdeco.de
If anyone has a details of a similar, possibly free :D , program please let me know.
Thanks
Khaled
I have JDeco on my phone and I like it. It's simple GF based Buhlman.

Janos,
Thanks for the reply.
may i ask you a few questions as you have some ecperience with jdeco.
Do you use it for Air dives, Nitrox and or Trimix, doco dive?
Which Algorithm do you use VPM-B or Buhlman?
For the VPM-B what settings do you use for the following:
Crit Vol Algorithm:
Set the critical volume algorithm to on or off
(Used only for VPM-B algorithm).
Conservativity:
Set the conservativity level of the VPM-B algorithm
(Used only for VPM-B algorithm).
If you us the Buhlman what setting do you use here?
Gradient Factors / Low:
Low gradient factor setting in percent
(Used only for Bühlmann algorithm).
Gradient Factors / High:
High gradient factor setting in percent - max 120!
(Used only for Bühlmann algorithm).
Sorry to ask this but i have read and tried to understand the publications on both programs but could not find (or comprehend) the effect of any of those adjustments. If you have a reference which explains it in laymans terms i would be very grateful.
Many thanks
Khaled
Khaled.
Have a look Here (http://www.dive-tech.co.uk/links.htm)
There's plenty here, but the two papers by Eric Baker are worth a read.
In summary though, the low GF value controls the depth at which your deep stops start, and the high GF controls the theoretical tissue saturation when you get out of the water.
I am by no means a deco expert. Although I know a fair bit of theory, I don't do the dives. I use Buhlman with 30/90, but I am considering using a lower value. Some people recommend using 20/80 or even 20/60!
For the fine points of VPM, although I can follow the equations I don't know what the different (advanced) settings mean. However I understand that the "default" setting is +2, and you should only go lower than this if you are some super-fit dive-god.
I'm a little overweight, so I prefer to take things as slow as possible. I'm quite happy to add a bit extra on and use conservatism settings, as it really makes very little difference (what's an extra 10 minutes?) to me.

(what's an extra 10 minutes?) to me.
Glad you said that. Makes me feel better about the 35mins we did last week on the Maine...

I said an extra 10 not 25.
Only joking. I'm always happy to do a bit extra, especially on the CCR...
