hey guys i am a little bit confused.

i am planning in doing deco on 50/50 or plus and the pressure gauges i am finding are all rated for 40% max. At the moment i am not risking in using anything, i just calculate how much gas is left but still i would like to know whilst doing the deco. Now i do know that part of it may be all bulls****, and maybe just a normal pressure gauge will do the work but i am still in doubt. Can any one give me his opinion?

If i am not mistaken , a higher O2 may corrode the metal if not up to standard.

Any idea of suppliers please?

Cheers

And my understanding is most modern guages are oxygen compatible so a decent dive shop should be able to clean it to put into oxygen service

It is. A standard SPG is fine for EAN50. The corrosion thing is nonsense too...

The importance of O2 dedicated stuff increases as the FO2 increases. 80 onwards deserves a little care and attention.

One of these?
Small oxygen gauge (http://www.divelife.co.uk/product_info.php?ref=3&products_id=234&affiliate_banner_id=1)

Personally I use the button gauges.

Personally I use the button gauges.I've seen two of them spontaneously dismantle themselves.
On the strength of that I definitely would not use them for oxygen rich mixtures.

After persisting with a standard guage for N70 purchased a few years ago (from some dubious advice) I have just purchased a short hose O2 contents guage for the stage. Most dive shops do them (got mine from D.Warehouse) just emphasise what it is to be used on because the one I got a few years ago was not O2 compatible for use on high mixes (up to 100%) even though the shop said it was. Didn't find this out until 12 months after I'd been diving with it.

I am now very careful who I ask and accept advice from.

Doesn't the '12 months' explosion free usage suggest the shop were correct in their assessment :)

We're all gonna die one day!...even 36,525 (leap years!) previous dead-free days don't mean you wont die the day after your 100th birthday!

So... no! (it does not mean the shop got it right!)
