I'm thinking that with photo galleries on the horizon for these forums, we could put them to good use for trip reports.
Some people (not me :D ) are better with the camera than the pen. Although, come to think of it, after some of my recent efforts, perhaps I should rethink that assessment....
Anyway..
Haven't really been able to cater for those sorts of reports too well before, take up a lot of room. slow load, I have to be very careful with how I deploy them etc etc.
However, if we get the ability for you to load pictures into your own gallery on site, then I could link to the gallery from the location page. So, for instance, you take a load of pix of St Kilda, I link to the gallery from the St Kilda page, just like I do with the written reports.
It is often the case that people send me some really great pictures with their trip reports, but unfortunately there aren't enough words in the report to sensibly deploy all the pictures, but galleries would get around this.
Not just photo trip reports either. Often travelling divers are as interested in the above water scenery than underwater shots. What does the beach look like? The bar area? Restaurants?
So, just a heads up to the photographers out there to get sorting through ready for when Keith and his cohorts give the word. Hopefully not too long.
Any other ideas for travel related use of photo galleries???
