Dial-up I'm afraid, lost my broadband when we moved out to the sticks, :( one of the (very few) downsides to living out in the countryside.:)

1 Gigabit  ... although shared with a lot of students :( Tiz very very good on a morning though, around 7.30-8am - no one else is up :D

... but it only comes to me through a 100Mbit LAN so don't think i'll ever quite achieve the gigabit thing

56kb Tesconet as the server, cheaper than broadband, cost £12-50 a month, no minimum term, no set up costs

You can get most broadband things for about £15 a month now... some on one-month contracts with very little startup cost.

Home access to broadband connections is only possible if you live within a 6km radius of a broadband enabled exchange.

Had broadband for 9 months then it developed a fault. Unfortunately, according to the engineers they could not fix the problem. Now back onto dial up:mad:

I do sympathise.:(
I moved to a non broadband area, after using it for two years.
Talk about cold turkey.
Hey.... Did I just admit I'm addicted to the web?
Sad. very sad.
:(
Mind you, I'f I've admitted it to myself, maybe there's some hope for me yet.

2Mbit ADSL with freedom2surf (highly recommend them to any technical folks - good support, no frills, no silly restrictions, just the bandwidth).

Frequently relegated to dial in (or horribly congested office networks) as
I travel for work though.

Telewest Blueyonder - Cable 2mb/384k

Seems reliable. Into a Router with cat5 & wireless for a variety of client systems.

4Mb Blueyonder, no D/L limits, it's on literally 24/7. All for the same price as I used to pay for 512kb, have to say they've been very good over the years.

Edit: oh yes, and shared with my lodger via a router.

If any of you IT tech bods could talk me through (dummy style, I'm not embarrased) 'port forwarding' on a Safecom router ( SBRU 10100) then I'd be grateful. Last time I tried it I lost my internet connection and had to set it up from scratch again :(

That was the URL I started with, I don't know where I went wrong but at one point the connection vanished, I suspect it's one of those jobs to save till I've got a heck of alot of patience to spare

2MB no limits for £10 per month, no start up fees - you just have to pay for 2 years up front

So £240 for 2 years at 2MB - with no limits!

Customer Serives and Technical support have never taken more than 20 minutes to answer emails (even when I'm on a night shift and ask Q's from work at 0300!). They ALWAYS give good results ...and if you leave your number they ring you back and talk you through it!

2meg b/b from freeserve:eek: sorry, it's wanadoo now! £17.99 a month.
interestingly noticed that connection was a bit intermittent, onboard diagnostics said all ok untill cable left the house so contacted bt who informed me that they would have an engineer check but that they recon there is no fault on the line and that if it turned out that the fault was in the property £150 bill would follow!
well this got right up my nose! cos i had logged the drop off times and when the connection was back on again got onto the local weather station online and all the drop offs co-incided with gusts of wind in excess of 30mph? i had notified the fault reporting line and the engineer (on mobile) and when the chap came to have a look he said, "yep, you are absolutely right it does seem to be a loose or stretched cable, but i've just seen that the pole has a red tag on it which means i cant put a ladder up it, and there aint access for the platform to get in"
and off he went!
so i'll be here (as long as the wind aint blowing) no real thanks to bt though.
mike.

I have 2272K/288K ADSL without and download restrictions for £10 a month. But did have to pay for 2 years up front. Works FAB. When I use VPN into work it is faster than some of the office LANs. Could never use Ebay on a dial up again.

I got an Airport Extreme for my own Christmas present so that no-one else in the house needed to use my computer. We find it serves four Macs within the house plus those of half the other people in the street!

Well guys, sorry to blwo my own trumpet, but last place I worked was a hosting centre, and we had a 15Gb pipe direct to the net! It was only open on 6Gb, and I got downloads of 600kb/sec average! download a cd in 4 minutes! lol
But on the downside, at home I get 30kb on modem!, out in the sticks like Andy!
