Why is this section suddenly deemed "private"
I can't see what's in it - except my own posts in there!
I can't be in all the others (and the Coaching & ITS) sections unless I'm a member - so I'm recognised as that.
Give us a clue ....and LET ME IN!!!!

Hi John it's probably one of the other admins pulling a few permissions out of the ITS/Coaching forum acceptance.
What has happened is that a minor glitch has happened in the system which allows those members subscribed to Coaching & ITS to have automatic access to FCD/NI, Schools Instructors, and Branch Matters forums without having to request permission.
This is currently being addressed as they are all closed groups just as Coaching & ITS is and you wouldn't like everyone to have access to it if they aren't eligible.
If you or any other member of Coaching & ITS find they cannot get access to a particular forum it is for this reason and you'll have to apply for acceptance to the forum the same as you did for this one.
However access to members chat is free for all members and whoever was amending the forum must have accidentaly removed that permission. I'll correct it for you now, and it will be done for the others as well
Hope that helps

So presumably that was why i could post on the FCD/NI forum without realising i was on it ;) having used recent posts.
And i am seeing the Chat room as Private as well.

Yes that's right Paul
It's a pretty complicated program behind the scenes with a lot of settings to sort out. (especially for someone as non-programming familiar as me)
You may need to request acceptance onto the forum if looking to do FCD

...If you or any other member of Coaching & ITS find they cannot get access to a particular forum it is for this reason and you'll have to apply for acceptance to the forum the same as you did for this one....or better still - do what every other member does John! Fill in your BSAC details and let our automatic systems take care of it :D I don't know Steve, we're spoiling these Coaches you know
But seriously John (and other Coaches), Steve has identified some minor problems with the Coaching group permissions (geek stuff, behind the scenes), what you're seeing is a temporary glitch that we're working to sort out. My "fix" as sugested above will in fact fix it for you.

Steve, i have no interest in FCD the same as i have dropped any idea of doing AI as i see no benefit to me in doing these, just money spent and lots of time spent preparing for something i really have no need for. I put far to much time into my club as DO and as an OWI to want more diving time lost. Its a hobby not a career ;) just my view on things :)

I've entered all my BSAC details! Sometimes I am "Found" and other times I am "Not Found". It's all very confusing!
It might be that my membership renewal is currently out of step with my Branch Common Renewal Date?
(personal reasons that are understood where they need to be and don't need explaining!)
It might be that I was entered into the Coaching & ITS permissions before I ever got recognised or "found" as a BSAC member?
(You might get more of that if Coaches sign up to the forums and use the pasword to get into "Coaching & ITS" before the software recognises them as members!

That was it....my membership renewal month just got changed on the HQ database...and so my original entry was no longer valid and I was "not found". I have altered it to refelct the change in my membership renewal date and I'm "found" again.
When this happens again this time next year (and I revert back to the branch common renewal date)...will someone please remind me?

Thanks John. When I get around to rewriting the HQ application (next year) I think it would be reasonable if we did it for you. i.e. If we "know" about you, and only the renewal month changes, then we change it automatically. Come to think of it...once you've initially validated we could revert to membership number only tracking (we can't do that for initial validation, too insecure) and we could do the same for branch changes as well.
But for now - Sorry! :o
