HI,

Now a single man and needing to get away and dive dive dive for a week, somewhere in the Med would be good. Looking for a cheap place to stay and dive as much as poss in 7 days. Having had a look around the net all seems a bit expensive all that single supplement stuff. Any give me any idea's. Advanced, OWI so anything is possible LOL:)

Thanks

Medas Islands near Barcelona? Fly cheap into Girona with Ryanair and I think some of the operators around there do very reasonable deals including accomodation

Martyn,

Give George Vella a shout. Cheap flights are now relatively common for Malta.

We'd such a good time there last year (19 of us) that we're already taking names for next year.

If you want a great Ryaniar deal look at Sardinia. Flights are well cheap and there are some good dive opportunities for more advanced divers like:

Don't be put off by the German - they speak English and respond to email (unlike many other overseas centres). There is cheap accomodation too...

All of the above are good suggestions. Or look at flying into the South of France and diving out of Cavalaire. The diving is fantastic and you can get cheap flights into Nice and other airports nearby. Obviously food, drink and nightlife is superb and you can camp very cheaply on some excellent campsites. Look at our trip report section and you will see what I mean

I've put in this link to the SOF page which has got lots of info including two very good trip reports linked where they camped and dived. I don't think you can go wrong with the South of France. And just think of the scenery on those beaches - you did say you were a single man, didn't you!? ;)

Easyjet now fly from Stansted to Palermo in Sicily, so that would be another option. Really nice diving, good food and great island. Ustica (a small island off Palermo) offers fantastic diving and is somewhere a bit different for UK divers. Look at some of the posts in this forum and also the Italy and Ustica page in Travel Club.

All the best

Allie

I'd agree with that. Just be sure your medical is less than a year old before you go. (French Law)

Yes, just got back from Sardinia. Did a couple of dives with orsodiving in the north east. There's plenty of diving closer to Alghero too, although not all of the dive centres are open this early in the year, but it does mean the accommodation is less expensive.

How about Gibraltar

How about the northern Costa Blanca - Calpe, Moraira, Javea? Fly into Alicante or Valencia - look at www.skyscanner.net for best prices. We were diving yesterday at Javea - water about 16-18 degrees. Boat dives with the centres here are about €20-€25 including tank and weights. I can recommend Amigos del Mar (run by Rab & Ali) in Javea www.amigosdelmarjavea.com, and Les Basetes (run by Del & Viv) in Calpe www.lesbasetesdivecentre.com - both very friendly.

Hi Martyn,

I don't know if it is too late but i thought i would add something to help you anyway. I am a French Federation qualified instructor aswell as PADI MSDT and run a dive travel company specialising in the South of France. Some of the diving down here is exceptional and there are multiple travel options into Nice, Toulon and Marseille airports. The train option should also not be discounted.

We run packages including transfers, accomodation and diving and offer value for money plus my knowledge of the diving scene down here ( i worked as an Instructor her for two years). You can check us out at www.diamonddiving.net.

The standard prices are themsleves negotiable and I would urge anybody reading this to get in contact and we will see what we can do regarding a competitive quote.
