We are planning to run a BSAC open circuit Advanced Mixed Gas pilot course between 15 - 19 July 2006 and are looking for suitable candidates. The course will be based on MV Maureen of Dart running out of Dartmouth. The costs are £400 each inclusive of instruction, accommodation, boat costs, food and gas. We have 3 places available, 5 have been filled.
The purpose of the pilot course is to trial the materials and at the same time certify instructors other than the course authors.
The course certification gives a 80m depth limit and the candidate pre-requisites are ERD or equivelent with experience of using twin sets and side mounts with accelerated decompression. Candidates will also be expected to be able to hold a decompression stop within + 0.5m and conduct accurate run times.
The course involves approximately 4 - 5 hours of theory, a sheltered water basic skills session + 5 dives progressing deeper and culminating in a 75m assessment dive. (75m is the HSE limit for instruction)
We are also looking for people wishing to certify as BSAC Open Circuit Mixed Gas Instructors by teaching the course using our materials and under the guidance of Instructor Trainers. Prospective instructors would be BSAC OWIs who also hold a recognised mixed gas instructor certification or BSAC AIs who are active on the ITS and hold a mixed gas diver certification. We have 2 places available, two have been filled.
Anyone interested please contact me on 01803 835449 or 07860 571012 or email me on mikerowley@tiscali.co.uk.
Cheers
