I have bought a dry suit ex hire from divers warehouse last November. I went to Capernwray on Saturday and did 2 dives after drying it out over the weekend. I saw i need a few repairs done to it.

1) New knee pads
2) A bit cut out of my neck (because it covers my adams apple)
3) There is also a strap that goes under my crotch and clips in on the front.
the strap needs replaceing and also i think where it clips in needs looking at.

I have only done 4 dives in it doing my open water lessons and i was wondering if anyone had any advice or could tell me what to do with the above I would be most grateful.

I dont want to fork out the cash to get a new one or is it still under warranty.

Cheers James :D :D :D

Hi James,

If you've only done four dives in it and it was sold to you as a fully functional (but ex hire) drysuit I would take it back to Diver's Warehouse and politely ask them to fix points 1 and 3. I have no idea if that is within your rights or not but they've been exceptionally good in the past when I've needed things doing with my otter.

Repair 2 is probably something you should pay for if you're desperate... but I'm not sure why that would be the case. Probing my neck and trying to remember where the drysuit goes up to as I sit in the office, and I think mine covers my adam's apple with no worries. Cutting out a section would quite probably start a point for a tear which can really put a downer on a day's diving next time you kit up!

I doubt you have too much recourse as the suit is secondhand. It is very easy to glue on new knee pads if you can get the old ones off!! A thin pad will glue over the old one easy enough.

Some more information might help with the diagnostics - neoprene/membrane suit, latex neck seal or neo etc...
