I did something similar 2 years ago in South wales:rolleyes: My box wasn't glass though, it was a mixture of aluminium, plastic and it had wheels and a tow ball, plenty of water though!
I never thought about doing it for fame and fortune:(
Oh and I had to share it with two bored p*@st off kids and an irate wife, for TWO weeks. I doubt Mr Blaine would have lasted for two minutes under those conditions!:D

That man is such a tool! He really needs to get a proper job!! If he thinks thats a challenge he wants to try teaching reproduction to a mixed class of year 7s last thing on a friday afternoon when they've had a lunch of E-numbers and it's snowing. Breath-holding for 8 minutes? I can rant for longer than that without taking a breath!

he is a bit of a knobber but would be interested to see if he actually manages to breath hold for 8+ minutes well 9 minutes ish to beat the world record

They'll need to dunk him in a tank with water that has had salts and minerals added or eventually the skin soaks up all the fresh water and it starts falling off in big white sheets.

On 2nd thoughts, nah. Fresh water would be far more entertaining. Would be like that Robbie Williams video where he pulls his skin off.

sad man!!! onistlty i bet if his parents are in a interview and saying what does your son do for a living they would say eather what son or he in a fish tank and to top it up he tying himself up in chains and going back in with no air (as you do) the man is mad and weill he get out?

His great plan has failed. he couldn't hold his breath for 9 minutes it was only 7 minutes untill 2 divers came to the rescue and saved him :mad:

Well Blaine was aiming for 9 minutes after all. 9 is the max anyone would ever be able to do, any more and death follows swiftly.
Shame he couldn't manage any more eh? :D
ISTR a year or so ago that two lady freedivers that had a bit of a 'competition' with each other, didn't it end up with the French girl dying?
I wouldn't wish that on him really, although I do wish he'd go away in jerky movements.

I suspect that he may have been breathing pure O2 for some time before the alledged attempt. This would supersaturate his blood & other tissues and supress the desire to breathe, which is stimulated by the prescence of CO2 rather than lack of O2.
Seven minutes is a very long time to hold ones breath, even for someone who has trained for years.

Even if he had beaten 9 mins, I doubt if he would have been credited with a record, since the conditions were not controlled appropriately.

His physical condition must be awful. Skin breakdon and potential liver & kidney problems. The man's an idiot.

Apparently he was actually unconscious when they pulled him out - wonder if that would have counted anyway? I'm sure I could chuck someone in a pool, hold them under, wait for them to drown, and then give it another few minutes before rescuing them!

Im supriesed people can hold there breath for that long. thats more than me unless i got my diving equipment. without it i can only hold my breath for a max of 1.30
