Buying a wreck

I need some advice on how to purchase a wreck.
I assume I will need to track down the orginal owners (could be a hard task)
Then how do I go about the legal process to buy the wreck?

This wreck is nothing too special as she is just a coaster, but the name and location is interesting and a couple of us would like to own her.

Any help would be appreciated.
