Just heard that in order to try to control the bird flu epidemic George W Bush has decided to Bobm the canary Islands!!

At the risk of setting myself up, Canary islands I believe comes from the latin canis or dogs therefore "gone to the dogs" , though could be wrong , and often am.:)

Islas Canarias.(sp?)
The story goes that they had dogs on the islands to warn of approaching pirates, and the whole village would often run off and hide in the lava tunnels, at least that what I was told when I visited them on Lanzarote a few years ago.
I always thought that the Isle of Dogs was in London but hey... :)
Seemed plausible at the time anyway.
