We had another spammer attempting to deface the Wiki last night. I was not best pleased.
Here's the mail I got from his ISP :-
Thanks for spam report we blocked this ip address immediately.

We are delicate. We do not delete your content.
And that is meant to make us happier is it?

Nice one Vic! Who was the ISP?
Camelot Telecom of Moscow.
I wish all ISP's responded in such a manner :(
ISPs never respond in such a manner until you make it clear that helping you is the path of least resistance. The first response I got from this particular happy band of travellers was along the lines of "well what do you expect us to do about it?". Some terse language and a bit of threatening behaviour, and they seem to have changed their minds...
Vic.
You could also just block his ip from accessing the server (assuming its not a dynamic one).
Wait and watch to see if someone from camelot does it again, if they do, block their entire range and be done with it.

It was their proxy; blocking that would take out the whole telco. If it were up to me...

Keith gets upset when I firewall entire countries. Can't think why.
I didn't create a new chain called "ShootOnSight", though. Really, I didn't...
Vic.
