View Full Version : Sorry about that...
...A slight unplanned outage.
My fault - shouldn't try to do things while I'm supposed to be at work :-)

...A slight unplanned outage.:D No problem Vic! For those who may not know - Vic is a key member of the Yestech team who look after our servers for us, he makes sure that they are up-to-date and that they keep on running. The vast majority of the work that he does isn't noticed, that's because things "just work". Very occasionally things don't go according to plan, an unexpected outage may be the result.
To put things into perspective... I expect 99.9% up-time from our web systems, that's the same as saying I expect no more than 8 hours (one business day) per annum downtime. We've just had an hour of downtime, the first since October IIRC when our new servers were switched on. Now that's a damn good track record IMHO!
Thanks again Vic, keep up the good work.

p.s. When the forums play up they send me an email. Between 18:26 and 18:55 (when I managed to turn them off) I received over 200 of them, about one every 10 seconds. Would you like me to forward them all to you Vic? ;)

When I tried to load the forum page it came up with a page that said there was a problem with the database, and it advised me to refresh the page, I also noticed that it said that a message had been sent to the administrator, I refreshed the page twice then gave up, so I guess it sent three emails in total on my behalf.
