Just for information guys, the sea temeperature at Hand Deeps and James Egan Layne sites last weekend was a balmy 7 degrees celcius.

The viz was 5-6 metres and 2 metres respectively but of course this changes accordingl to sea state/rate of tide.

I was informed by the boat skipper that "they" are still dumping in Whitsand Bay just off Plymouth, river silt. Presumably this is from the Tamar.

You did well to get out to Hand Deeps, hardboat?

We were in Plymouth on Sunday, bit choppy out on the RIB with swell coming up so dived (in the vicinity of) the Elk. Visibility around 5-6m, nice at light even at 30m with sea temperature a uniform 8.0deg throughout.

Hmmm i was hoping for another degree or so by the end of the month, had 6-7 Deg at Portland on 11/12 Feb (http://www.bsactravelclub.co.uk/reports/portland2.htm), it don't appear to want to warm up too quickly :(

Edit: Still have some places available (http://www.bsacforum.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=3787) off of Furious on the 24 March :)

I started doing more winter diving last year, and have done lots this winter, had a cracking trip to Portland (Link above) and some VERY good diving out of Brighton off of Nauticat all through the winter, last dive in 2005 was 29 Dec (Fortuna Dive Report (http://www.yorkshire-divers.com/forums/recent-trip-reports/30333-grand-day-out-off-brighton.html)) first dive this year 26 Jan (Ramsgarth Trip Report (http://www.yorkshire-divers.com/forums/recent-trip-reports/31428-brighton-24th-jan.html)) :) Both 25-33m ish wrecks off Brighton.

Went to Hand Deeps then to JEL on Steve Wright's boat "Seeker".

Loads of room (10 divers) and an excellent skipper. Good sense of humour. The RIB Kara C was out there also.
