Hi,

On the off chance that someone on here has a Mac and also uses online banking with Northern Rock - can you please drop me a note and tell me how you do it? I'm having problems gaining access using the browsers available to me - Safari, Firefox and IE:Mac. :(

How do you do it?

BTW - access is no problem using a PC with IE.

Cheers,
Tristan

Can you install opera and make it claim that it's a PC running IE? That's how I had to access my German bank account from Linux before they acknowledged there was more than one browser in the world...

Thanks Finless - that was about as much help as Ben's suggestion. Opera won't even get me as far into logging on as Safari does.

Anyone else have any ideas - or silly smileys to brighten my day before I drop the Mac out of the window

Cheers,
Tristan

It's bizarre - I bank with Lloyds-TSB (or whatever it's called now) and HSBC and these both work just fine online - it's just the Northern Rock system that falls over everytime I try to log on from the Mac. I think maybe I need to re-tension the piece of string between Hong Kong and Newcastle to get it to work.:p

Cheers,
Tristan

I have similar problems... Lloyds TSB is great, works with everything. EGG is fine with everything, I have problems with Woolwich internet banking. Safari and Firefox struggle, sometimes it half works. Mac IE is variable.

Dare I say it, if all else fails VirtualPC & IE may work.

Although saying that I couldn't get woolwich to work from my XP laptop yesterday, they really are the pits.

I also have a Mac and am with a few different banks, all of which work now. This wasn't always the case though!!! I suggest that you email them on their help address Technicalhelp@northernrock.co.uk and let them know your problems and that they have a problem with their website when it comes to people using Macs !!!

As Macs are becoming more popular, they should hopefully listen and get there IT guys to sort out their site, or they are going to start losing customers, we just need to make sure they know there are problems. Seemed to work when I reported bugs in formatting using Safari to Barclays ages ago, they got it fixed pretty quick. To use HSBC's site you needed a magnifying glass to read the writing on the screen about 3 years ago with Safari !!

Good luck
Peter
